About the role
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a talented, strategic and creative individual to bring to life our campaigns on economic policy. With a primary focus on Australia, the role will also enhance our advocacy in Singapore and South-East Asia.
You will engage policymakers through events, research, partnerships with industry associations and other forms of outreach that demonstrate the positive impacts of our business on customers, small business and the economy more broadly. You will combine the ability to work collaboratively across local and international policy teams and with internal stakeholders across functions, while taking ownership for delivery of projects.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in public policy advocacy and campaigning, a solid understanding of the policy landscape, the flexibility to build and execute multiple policy-focused campaigns across different matters simultaneously, and the ability to effectively communicate complex issues to diverse audiences. This position will report to our Australian Head of Public Policy, and is based in the Sydney CBD.
Key job responsibilities - Policy Advocacy: Lead campaigns and advocacy efforts focused on effective, customer-centric economic policies, including legislative and regulatory initiatives. - Research and Analysis: Work with internal and external partners to develop and manage research into policy issues, and amplify research findings, including through events. - Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, industry leaders, thinktanks and other advocacy groups. - Messaging and Communications: Develop compelling briefs and reports with clear and persuasive messaging aligned with organisational goals. - Coalition Building: Work collaboratively with other organisations, coalitions, and interest groups to align on key policy priorities and amplify advocacy efforts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: A degree in a relevant field. - Experience: Minimum of 10 years in public policy, advocacy, campaigning or government relations, with a focus on economic policy.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. - Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines. - Experience with coalition-building and working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
