About the Portfolio The Operations Portfolio ensures seamless, enterprise-wide delivery of services for students and staff. It includes Human Resources, Information and Technology Services (ITS), the Office of the Chief Operating Officer, the Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG), Finance and Governance, Data and analytics, Legal Services, Enabling Services Reform, and the University Secretariat.

For further information, please visit http://www.rmit.edu.au/its The Role The Cyber and Technology Risk Awareness Lead is responsible for designing, delivering, and continuously improving enterprise-wide cyber awareness and technology-related training initiatives. This role is critical in strengthening the organisation's cybersecurity and technology risk culture by leading targeted training, driving engagement campaigns, coordinating phishing simulations, and developing impactful communications to influence positive behavioural change. Reporting to the Associate Director, Office of the CIO, this role collaborates closely with the CISO and Head of ITS Governance, Risk & Compliance. The role ensures alignment with risk, compliance, and policy requirements while driving measurable improvements in awareness, behaviour, and policy adherence.
The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator and strategic change agent, able to simplify complex cyber and technology risk concepts into engaging content and learning experiences. This person will drive cultural uplift as a visible ambassador for cyber and technology risk engagement while fostering collaboration and promoting a security-first mindset across the university.

Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing cybersecurity awareness or technology training programs in a complex organisational environment.
- Self-motivated to be a subject matter expert in cybersecurity and technology risks, user behaviour.
- Experience training needs analysis and training delivery options.
- Demonstrated ability to run phishing simulations and translate insights into targeted campaigns or training.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content and influence change.
- Strong organisational skills, particularly in managing events and delivering training and engagement.
- Lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative cybersecurity awareness and training initiatives, ensuring alignment with global campaigns, compliance requirements, and RMIT’s strategic objectives.
- Deliver tailored training and awareness programs to high-risk user groups such as privileged users and technology teams, informed by phishing simulation insights and risk assessments.
- Monitor emerging cybersecurity trends, risks, and threat intelligence to strengthen RMIT’s cyber posture and promote risk-informed decision-making.
- Develop, execute, and maintain engaging, targeted communications to uplift technology and cyber policy compliance and drive a positive risk-aware culture.
