About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Land Tax and Valuations Manager to lead and manage statutory valuation activities across Telstra’s extensive property portfolio. This role is pivotal in ensuring accurate property assessments for land tax purposes and will act as the subject matter expert (SME) for all valuation-related matters, with a specific focus on land tax assessments and objections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review statutory valuations across a diverse property portfolio including commercial, retail, and industrial owned assets.
  • Analyse land tax assessments and identify anomalies or inaccuracies in valuation notices.
  • Prepare, lodge, and manage valuation objections with various State Revenue Offices (SROs) and councils across Australia, following through to resolution.
  • Act as the primary liaison with all relevant SROs, Councils ensuring effective communication and resolution of valuation, assessment and rates issues.
  • Provide expert guidance and strategic advice to internal stakeholders regarding land tax valuations, including risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with the Leasing Director, Lease Administration Manager, and Lease Admin team to align valuation activities with broader portfolio strategy.
  • Manage key client stakeholders, providing regular updates, reports, and insights into valuation performance and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to all valuation activities and SRO interactions.
  • Stay up to date with legislative and regulatory changes impacting land tax and statutory valuations.

Interested?  An ideal candidate would need to have the following qualifications and experience.

Key Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Property, Valuation, or a related field.
  • Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) accreditation, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in statutory valuations, with a strong background in land tax and property assessments.
  • Proven experience dealing with State Revenue Offices and managing valuation objections from submission to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of valuation methodologies across commercial, industrial, and retail assets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a part-time capacity.
