Megan Willoughby

Hiring manager, Nine

Nine is a leading multi-platform media network, engaging audiences, including across our Radio Business which is home to Brisbane’s only commercial news talk station - 4BC. You can be part of the team that Brisbane turns to for breaking news, opinions and information on what’s happening locally, nationally and around the globe. 4BCs home to Walkley Award winning journalists, Queenslands best-known commentators and the most influential broadcasters: Laurel, Gary & Mark, Neil Breen, Ray Hadley, and Sofie Formica. We lead the way in news and sport coverage and are proud to host Wide World of Sports. You will truly be working with and learning from the top radio talent in the industry.

About the role

The six-week paid Radio Internship Program based in our 6PR Newsroom, is an ideal opportunity for the next generation of Australia's diverse radio talent to build their skills and get real-world experience under their belt.  We’re looking for passionate and ambitious individuals to get experience in our newsroom, and you will also get the opportunity to be exposed to our Radio program teams.

Across the six weeks, no two days will look the same, giving you a broad hands-on feel for what it’s like to work within our Radio station! One day you might be on the road chasing stories with our journalists, in the newsroom writing stories and reading bulletins  to the next doing phone interviews, listening in to press conferences and generally supporting day-to-day happenings of the newsroom!

Although you will spend most of your time in the newsroom, we will also give you the opportunity to create content with our producers and on-air talent across our different programs! This will ensure you experience the different teams within our radio station!

Based out of East Perth, the internship program is managed by our Radio Station Manager and News Director.
