About the role

Hatch is on a mission to re-imagine hiring and job seeking, to help more people discover the work that’s right for them, and to make it easy for teams to discover their best fit people, on a level playing field, without bias. We're an early-stage startup with a big vision and a big story.

We’re looking for an Operations & Finance Analyst to join our team! This is a part-time contract role perfect for a current university student. Working within the Business Operations team, you’ll be contributing to a range of projects including pricing & payments, sales enablement, partnerships, and role fulfilment.

Your work will play a critical role in allowing us to scale our operations by an order of magnitude over the next 6 months, as we continue to expand across Australia (and potentially the US and UK).

The right candidate for this role is an entrepreneur at heart with a deep passion for tech startups. Previous experience in startups, business operations, business development, consulting, or banking will be highly valuable in this role, but don't let that stop you throwing your hat in the ring.

This position may convert into a full-time role at the end of the contract period (6 months).

What tasks will you be doing?

  • Business Operations: Contribute to a number of BAU operations processes and project work to support the scaling of our operations function. Example task - development and evolution of dashboards that surface insights to our senior management team to drive key product and business decisions.
  • Business Process Improvement: Analysing our existing business processes, and scoping opportunities to make improvements. Example task: analysing the Hatch sales funnel to find opportunities to improve the velocity, efficiency and scalability.
  • Finance & Cashflow Management: Contributing to the development and implementation of our new payments system and process as well as the day-to-day management of outstanding receivables / invoices.

What capabilities do you have?

  • Creative problem solving: You’ll be working in a new area of our business, so you’ll need to create new and unique solutions to problems, rather than learning how to apply an existing approach.
  • Critical thinking: You’ll need to be able to evaluate and synthesise different and conflicting pieces of information from different sources in order to break down complicated problems into solveable pieces.
  • Drive and resillience: We operate in a fast paced and high pressure environment. You’ll need to have persistence and resilience in the face of obstacles and able to accept and learn from negative feedback.
