About the role

How will I help? An exciting position to join the Westpac Group as a Senior Data Analyst in Group Reporting & Analytics (GR&A) function providing a range of reporting, analytical and data management services for its internal customers and external regulators. We are hiring for permanent and contract positions. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing data analysis, data modelling, data profiling of various large data sources in structured and unstructured formats and communicating results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve business problems and manage stakeholder priorities and reporting needs.
  • Visualise data, produce business intelligence assets such as reports and dashboards using BI tools (such as Tableau or PowerBI) to communicate complex ideas and extract relevant insights.
  • Modify and extend the data extract, transform and load system to produce the desired reporting outcome based on stakeholder needs. 
  • Supporting and enhancing the BAU regulatory reporting processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with key business partners to ensure clear and effective communication.
  • Promote a greater awareness and deeper understanding of data analytics ensuring Leaders have a good understanding of the value of data driven analysis and decision making applied to identifying opportunities to uplift business performance.

  • Previous experience as a data analyst
  • Strong command of SQL and experience with data warehouses (Teradata or similar).
  • Experience with data visualization and data storytelling using Tableau, Power BI or other business intelligence tool.
  • Attention to detail and emphasis on data quality checking.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment including use of JIRA, Confluence and Bitbucket.
  • Be solutions focused with the knowledge of when and how to ask the right questions to source valuable data insights and tailor projects for optimal outcomes

Desirable:

  • Experience wrangling and analysing data using Python
  • Experience working with Axiom, TM1 or similar.
  • A solid understanding of the Financial Services in particular EFS regulatory reporting
