About the role
The best audience developers were journalists first. We’re looking for someone who wants to be at the forefront of digital news distribution - but who lives and breathes journalism and has a passion for storytelling.
This is a hands-on role, with the primary focus on helping Australia’s number one news website - news.com.au - better engage its existing audience and find new readers.
You will be embedded in the news.com.au newsroom working alongside our journalists and audience team. The role can be based in Sydney.
Role responsibilities:
- Write and produce stories for targeted audiences
- Optimise the stories produced by our newsroom
- Ensure our newsroom is focusing on what our readers want by driving behaviour through data-led insights
- Work closely with our other audience specialists
- Stay at the forefront of audience trends in SEO, social media, video, newsletters, Apple News and anywhere else we publish or share our journalism
- Work in a two-speed environment, with a mix of hands-on day-to-day news and longer-term content and strategy
- Help us cover a seven-day roster by working two weekend shifts per month

Attend events including press conferences, speeches, or public meetings, to gather information for articles

Work closely with senior reporters to learn from their experience and receive guidance on their work
